I have been in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this week.
Another trip, another reminder that the future of convenience retail is already here.

As I leave Riyadh, I find myself impressed by just how modern, ambitious and competitive the convenience retail landscape in Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region has become.

For those who still think of convenience retail in the region as a developing market, it may be time for a rethink.

2026 – April | Sao Paulo, Brazil

Channel Blurring / Mobility Ecosystem / Meaning

São Paulo is one of those cities where it is difficult to define exactly what convenience retail is.

And perhaps that is the point.

Across a few days exploring the city and its surroundings, I encountered everything from tiny, digital-first coffee shops to enormous motorway destinations serving tens of thousands of customers; from 24-hour bakeries to retail spaces where selling products is almost secondary.
